| Situated on a plateau above the village
of Cotignac, which is 3 km. away. Dating from the
sixteenth century, the estate contains the main bastide,
which is permanently occupied by the owners, and two
farmhouses, each with its own swimming pool, which are
available for rental throughout the year. A large
converted Coach House, which forms part of the courtyard
of the main house, is also available for rental and
accommodates two plus a child. The surrounding land contains cypress trees, Mediterranean oaks, pines and olive trees, with abundant herbs of thyme, rosemary, sage and lavender. A variety of indigenous flowers carpet the ground throughout the year and the tranquillity is unique, with only the sound of the bells of the Abbe de Notre Dame and the nearby Monastere St. Joseph breaking the silence. Huge dragonflies and many varieties of butterflies are in abundance along with a fascinating array of bird, insect and wildlife. The atmosphere of Domaine St. Joseph is blissfully peaceful which makes it a perfect place to recover from the rigours of modern life and an idyllic setting for painting and writing. There is a competitive golf course nearby, tennis courts in the village, a Tennis Club at Sillans and water sports at the Gorges du Verdon. |
